The 2026 CANVAS (formerly Trisocieties) is happening Nov 1 - 4, and we have just enough folks and funding to send the GOAT booth, which is great. FarmOS is a key piece of that booth.

However, I made an error and ended up about 410 dollars short (fiscal sponsor and transaction fees!).

Is there interest in the FarmOS community to contribute the remainder? Link is below. FarmOS Conservation Planner will be present and active (already contributing via SLI), so you will definitely have a voice there.

It’s also an opportunity if anyone here is attending to visit or man the booth.

I’m OK with contributing $410 from the farmOS OpenCollective to this - but we should follow the community funding proposal procedure. @gbathree can you please reformat this as a funding proposal? Basically just need to add the `funding-proposal` tag, standard frontmatter, and a poll for voting. Search past proposals for examples.

Normally requests should be made at least a month in advance to give time for comments/voting. We can make exceptions when deadlines are tight, but ideally that should be rare. When do you need these funds released by?

FYI: I wrote up thoughts for more formal funding proposal guidelines a while back… would love to get feedback/changes and to formalize this process more. I think it’s important that we allow everyone who is contributing to the OpenCollective a chance to chime in.

> I’d like to discuss our current approach to farmOS “funding proposals”, which we use to propose expenditures from our OpenCollective balance: [farmOS - Open Collective](https://opencollective.com/farmOS) We currently have a loosely defined policy/methodology, whereby someone can create a forum topic with the funding-proposal tag, which describes their proposal, and includes a poll to vote yes/no on it. That’s worked fine so far. But I think it would be worth standardizing a bit more, and solidifying some of the policy rules to an…

Nevermind @gbathree! Farmier made the [contribution](https://opencollective.com/2026-canvas-conference/contributions/988741). 😊
