Field Kit: a platform dilemma

We are using the PWA version more, having been using farmOS for the past 3-4 years on multiple projects and I have some questions/comments about the GUI, this is version 0.8.2

Log Categories shows “No categories selected” when I click on Show more it simply toggles to Show less

Assets when I type in an asset type there is no tag completion (I realize this might be default behaviour and am simply double checking).

Add my GPS location when I select this I get “User denied Geolocation”

If I type in to the location field once again there is no tag completion and I don’t see the location I did type in synchd into farmOS

Hi @mikebrunt, welcome to the farmOS forum!

Hmm, it sounds like the list of categories is not populated for some reason. Can you confirm that you do in fact have log categories enabled and some created for your farmOS? I think you can check at https:///admin/content/taxonomy_term (is that right, @mstenta?).

If I understand correctly, that’s right. You can only search for an asset by its name, not by its type, although that’s not a bad idea for a feature!

Ah, ok, this is a browser protection, and different browsers on different phones can act differently. If it doesn’t prompt you to allow location permissions for farmos.app, then you need to access the site settings, if you know where to find them. If not, let me know what make of phone/device your using, and the browser you are using or installed the PWA from.

I assume you’re typing in the Areas field, under Areas & Location section? If so, that search field will only search for areas by their name. Is an area what you’re looking for?

Also it might be worth looking at the network tab in your browser. If you have a lot of assets/areas/etc they can take a really long time to load. e.g. For my use-case with 27 pages of assets and several pages for each of the taxonomies it takes 4 - 5 minutes before FieldKit becomes fully functional - one of the symptoms of in-progress loading or failed loading being that same “empty categories” behavior.

Oddly the categories and units taxonomies seem to be loaded last - despite those being things which are unlikely to grow as fast as assets or areas…
