# Proper Way to add non required fields to activity log in a module

What is the correct method to add custom fields that aren’t required to an activity log?

I am making a breeding activity log module to add sire and breeding type as an option to merge with the asset linked and show a breeding report. I’m just having a problem getting the fields to render at the bottom of the activity log screen.

Hi @tool172 - I’m assuming you are following the guidance from the documentation at [Fields | farmOS](https://farmos.org/development/module/fields/)?
