Here’s notes from the call:
Notes, Meeting Feb 15
Octavio - updates on the JSON Schema Publisher
-
Looking into LinkML, which has a separate independent language that can output to many frameworks
-
Concerns
- How ‘lossy’ is LinkML’s common format. Like can it use advanced features from JSON Schema? Or are those lost?
- Is LinkML something we want to invest in? Is it going to be around? Who owns it and where will it be?
- It’s coded in Python, so now we’ve added another language into the mix of how one can do the work of creating new convention.
- Will it be easy still to integrate wtih FarmOS? Using FarmOS as part of the testing pipeline still be available?
-
Pluses
- Output to many formats that other groups can use - like RDF, etc. etc.
- Already has a system to integrate context (like RDF)
-
Questions
- Go to community meeting
- Ask on the JSON Schema forum if anyone’s using and what they think
- Octavio will initiate a post on LinkML to start long-term review… maybe we can use it, let’s see if we can get folks to starting learning more.
-
other things to check out
- murmurations.network
- linkml
Greg presented on language for how and when for people creating a new convention to add attributes
and when not to. Hopes to post here soon when done.
