Good day all,
Is there a way to draw electric fences as new layers in FarmOS?
Has anyone done it before, what did you use for representing switches, gate underground wires, end of line, etc.?
Thank you

I assume you mean permanent fencing, not temporary netting that is moved around for rotational grazing?
Permanent fences (and related devices, gates, etc) can be represented as assets. Asset geometries will appear on the map on Records > Assets (/assets) and Records > Assets > [type] (/assets/[type]).
It’s up to you what asset types to use, and whether to give them “intrinsic geometry” or define their geometry via logs. See Location | farmOS and Movements and location | farmOS
I would probably use structure assets, and activity logs to represent when they are installed/changed (which also defines their geometry as of that moment).
You could also consider using equipment assets to represent fence energizers.
The only disadvantage of using multiple asset types is you won’t be able to see them all at once in Records > Assets > [type]. You will see them all in Records > Assets, but if you are trying to see a map that only shows fence-related assets, then that’s a bit tricker.
farmOS v4.1.0 will include a new “Asset Category” feature, so you could use that to tag all fence-related assets (regardless of their asset type) with a “Fencing” category (for example). This would allow you to filter the assets on Records > Assets and only see the fence-related ones in the map.
Yes, permanent
A map as such will be useful for fixing power leaks…
