Title: Sponsor farmOS+GOAT as an exhibitor at the Feb 2026 Pasa Sustainable Ag Conference and the Nov 2025 CANVAS (TriSocieties) conference Submitted by: Greg Austic OpenCollective account:CANVAS and Pasa (separate) Cost: $500 (CANVAS); $300 (Pasa)
Description
I will be attending both the 2026 Pasa Conference in Lancaster, PA Feb and the CANVAS conference in Nov 2025. You can see more about them on the open collective page, but both are pretty big though Pasa serves farmers more and CANVAS is more of an academic / professional affair.
Funding the GOAT booth (as FarmOS has done in the past) it supports the entire GOAT community by ensuring our ideas, services, and tools (like FarmOS!) are visible to everyone. In the past when I’ve done this, I talk to anywhere from 30 to 50 people individually while I’m there, and FarmOS is one of the top things I end up bringing up.
In reality, the more the merrier in terms of donation, but I propose $500 for CANVAS and $300 for Pasa because frankly this really gets the word out for FarmOS and has established meaningful connections in the past.
Also, there are two exhibitor passes included in the CANVAS conference, so if someone would like to join and help exhibit that is possible!
Booth costs are $800 (Pasa), requesting $300 from FarmOS; and $2600 (CANVAS) requesting $500 from FArmOS.
I’m also looking into non-profit rates for CANVAS, so hoping to bring that down. Also working to get 50% covered by Point Blue by sharing the booth space with them.
Looking back at the Open Collective budget it looks like farmOS has been funding 2 community outreach/conference things per year so this looks right on target with that - obviously assuming farmOS gets a decent amount of visibility from these.
We discussed this on the monthly call last week and there was no objection, so I’m going to call this approved!
@gbathree I need to figure out how to contribute from one collective to another (again). We did it last year, but it involved some direct help from OpenCollective staff. So I’ve reached out to them directly to ask what is the correct way to do it. Hope to hear back soon and get the funds transferred…
Looking forward to hearing how these conferences go!
Hey all - Thanks so much for everyone for reviewing and contributing!! I’m working to invite you to submit Mike, sorry OC is complicated but hopefully worth it, we’ll figure it out.
I did ask (thanks to Steve from Tech Matters for suggesting it) about non-profit rates but sadly no…
