In the case of farmOS, and embedding iframe into the farmOS UI, I think the primary risk is exposing other users to malicious URLs embedded in iframes. That can be mitigated by only allowing high-level users access to add URLs to iframes, but something to think about more deeply… especially if we ever foresee farmOS pages being made visible to the public.

This would be my understanding of the risk, just want to make sure before I go too far down the rabbit hole .

Bit of a rainy day yesterday, so I did a bit of tidying up on this and implemented some of @mstenta’s recommendations, sorted routes and removed some unnecessary bits.
I also tidied up the menu.

And created an overview page (or possibly borrowed from elsewhere in farmOS)

Still a bit to do, but with the new layout there is definitely an argument to make adding iframes more dynamic.

Did a little experimenting today with a list builder for dynamically adding iFrames, still a bit to do but think its headed in the right direction.

I’m also working on a notifications/events module which can send events in farmOS such as log creation/update to external servers, such as Node-Red, ntfy or Telegram.

External notifications, webhooks, MQTT etc

Any modules for 2.x in development for dispatching events to external applications? I seen this thread Controlling remote devices from within FarmOS - #5 by MBConsultingUK but presume its 1.x discussion. I’ve also tried a Drupal Webhooks module but so far have not gotten it to work. I think, these 2 modules will work well together to make Node-Red integration with farmOS much simpler.

Although the notifications module works, it has a long way to go and needs some redesign to hopefully work as a plugin for the new core farm notification module.
