Probably not, that is more or less the idea of the gateway storing and processing the data in some way, but if it is only posting a payload a few times a day would there be much advantage to cutting out data? Maybe… a newborn calf tends to be very active followed by long periods of being very still and asleep, so a lot of inactive time could be wiped out and simply recorded as inactive from/to.
